FAQ: Eyelash Extensions

Are eyelash extensions safe?

The application is pain-free and relaxing and many clients fall asleep during their appointment. however, improper application by an unqualified eyelash technician can cause pain and damage to your natural lashes. We recommend only booking with a trained and certified eyelash extension technician.

How long will it take to apply eyelash extensions?

The appointment can take a minimum 2hrs or as long as 3hrs depending on your natural lash condition and the lash artist you book with. The initial appointment includes a before and after consultation to go over Classic and Russian Volume lash extensions. During the initial consultation you will be shown photos of lash styles and given an opportunity to feel and see the different types of lashes and learn about the differences between both Classic and Russian Volume lashes. The actually application time is approximately 1hr to 1.5hrs with an experienced lash technician, however if you book with a newly certified technician it may take up to 3hrs. You will lay comfortably on a massage or facial table with your eyes closed. Your lower eyelashes will be isolated to provide access to your upper lashes during the application. The extensions will then be applied to each individual natural eyelash on a hair by hair basis.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Most eyelash extension adhesives have a bond time of 4-8wks. However, they only last as long as your natural lash does. Like all hair on the human body, your eyelashes grow in stages. it is normal to lose 1-4 natural lashes per day, this is why regular eyelash refills are recommended every 3-4wks. The duration between refills depends on many factors, all of which will be discussed and explained during your initial appointment.

What should I do before my eyelash appointment?

Do not use any waterproof products on or around your eye area for 24hrs before your appointment, waterproof products can leave a residue on your lashes effecting the adhesive's bonding. Do not wet lashes for at least 6-8hrs after your appointment. A comprehensive after care consultation will be discussed during your appointment.

Do eyelash extensions cause damage to my natural lashes?

Natural eyelashes have a lifecycle of approximately 3-8wks. They are constantly shedding and growing like all human hair on the body. It is normal to shed a few lashes everyday. Eyelash extensions are applied on each individual eyelash. When applied correctly eyelash extensions do not affect the natural growth cycle of your lashes and you will not experience any damage to your current lashes or any future growth. Due to the natural shedding and regrowth process it is necessary to maintain your extensions with reoccurring refills. During your touch up or refill appointment, new extensions will be applied to your new lash growth and any lashes that have grown out but have not shed will be repositioned closer to the base of your natural lashes. Depending on your individual preference you may choose to return for either a touch up or a refill. Many factors effect the duration of time between your appointments, your lash artist can help you decide what best suits your preferences.

Can I wet my lashes and use eye make up?

It is very important to keep your lashes clean! Daily cleansing of your eyelashes are required to maintain both optimum eye health and to prolong the strength of the adhesive. You will be provided a foaming lash wash bottle following your initial appointment. The lash cleanser is completely safe for the adhesive and  is tear-free and gentle for your eye area. You are able to continue using eye shadows and liner, it is recommended that you avoid waterproof products around the eyes. The lash wash is strong enough to remove all water-based eye make up. You must absolutely avoid all oil based products and make up wipes around your eye area.
